A rushed up screenplay for an insane universe build-up.

Thamma follows the folklore of Beetaal (a vampire spirit) set in a dense forest, where Alok (Ayushmann Khurrana) goes hiking with his friends and goes missing after a bear attack only to be saved by a Beetaal named Tadaka (Rashmika).

As the rushed screenplay unfolds, Tadaka develops an intense obsession with Alok, which soon leads her into trouble. Like other women in the Maddock Cinematic Horror Universe, Tadaka is complex, fierce, and irresistibly likable.

However, the film suffers from an overstuffed screenplay; too many subplots, tonal shifts, and rushed transitions that undercut what could have been a richer story. The first half sets up intriguing ideas, only for the second half to sprint through them, leaving little time for tension or character growth. Yet amidst the narrative clutter, Parvesh Rawal emerges as the silver lining, injecting humor and humanity into the spectacle.

Where Thamma truly triumphs is in how it redefines the MHCU itself; this time, the universe expands not through lazy cameos but through organically woven lore, mythic continuity, and thematic unity. For the first time, it feels like the Maddock Cinematic Horror Universe has opened its wings, no longer relying on winks and nods, but standing confidently as a cohesive, interconnected folklore which leads itself for a massive massive universe build-up.
