A horror film that gets under your skin rather than relying solely on constant scares.

While it does feature what might be one of the most effective jump scares in years, the real strength of the film lies in the tension it builds beforehand.

The story begins with Ian our male protagonist; who buys the 'One wish willow', a magical (lol) wish candle for his crush, the plot is intriguing, revealing just enough information to keep you hooked without giving away its mysteries too early.

The atmosphere is oppressive and unsettling, making even ordinary moments feel uncomfortable.

The female lead is easily one of the film's biggest strengths. Her performance feels natural, emotionally convincing, and carries much of the movie's tension. She brings a sense of vulnerability and authenticity that makes the horror hit even harder.

The male protagonist, on the other hand, is one of the most frustrating horror leads in recent memory. His decisions often make you want to scream at the screen, though that may have been the intention.

Visually, the film goes for a grounded and realistic style. However, some scenes are lit so darkly that important details can be hard to make out. It feels like a deliberate artistic choice, but it does not always work.

What impressed me most was the film's commitment to psychological horror. It trusts its audience, avoids excessive exposition, and lets the dread linger long after scenes end.

Not a perfect horror film, but one that delivers memorable scares, a gripping atmosphere, and surely the best horror of the year, character you care about long after the credit rolls.
